The energy of Brazilian rock takes on new dimensions with 'Rastros, Resquícios y Otras Cositas Mas', the new album by the band Traste, released this Friday, July 18th, on the Psywar Records label.

Featuring 13 songs, 'Rastros, Resquicios y Otras Cositas Mas', was recorded at Rise Together Studio (Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais), produced and mixed by Tierez Oliveira, and mastered by Chris Hanzsek at Hanzsek Audio (USA).

The album is violent, full of noise, blending hardcore, punk, and stoner. It is Traste's most visceral and sincere recording to date. The instrumental was recorded live, with guitar, bass, and drums playing together, followed by layers of vocals, guitar overdubs, and other elements.

Vocalist Guilherme Melich comments:

"In a way, it's a snapshot of our history as a band, bringing together important elements from throughout our career. The hardcore punk roots are preserved, but with that constant flirtation with stoner and more extreme sounds."

The album features 13 tracks, including the singles "MM's," "Sete Palmos e Meio," and the captivating "Pietá," as well as the catchy "Velhos Quintais" and "The Devil," composed before the album's recording, and others played in the band's early days that hadn't been recorded, such as "Cabeça de Papel."

"Besides these, the other songs are updated versions of previous ones, since, with Polato's addition to the band, these songs took on a new dimension and intensity. Tracks like 'Canto ao Câncer' and 'Estelar' come from our second EP, and they get a new look here. Other songs like 'Raspa de Cipó' and 'Tudo é Marketing' come from 'Retalhos,' the last EP we released before this album," says Guilherme.

"'Rastros, Resquícios y Otras Cositas Mas' brings the freshness and energy that the band exudes at this moment. It's the sound of three friends messing around with their instruments and expressing themselves in the most powerful way they can. Their experiences are present, their frustrations, failures, and anger at the cruelties of the world and the ills of existence are all present on the album.

Finally, Guilherme thanks Psywar Records:

"This is our first release through Psywar Records, which took on the responsibility of distributing and promoting the album. We intend to release it physically later… on vinyl, if all goes well."

Traste was founded in Juiz de Fora, Brazil, in 2013, initially formed by Guilherme Melich and Felipe Spinelli. Victor Polato joined in 2017, replacing Alex Badaró, who was part of the original lineup. In 2014, their first EP, which bears the band's name, was released. It features four songs, two of which are "Psycho Carlos" and "Não presto," with a music video available on YouTube. Next came "Encardido," featuring five more songs.

Focusing on creating an energetic sound, with diverse references ranging from Nirvana to Ratos de Porão, GBH to Melvins, Black Flag to Refused, the band also values constant attention to the artistic aspect of their projects, from building their visual identity through album and EP covers (designed by the members themselves) to producing music videos for each single released.

In 2017, seven more songs were recorded. Instead of an EP, they decided to compile their previously released work and present an album, "3 em 1," which included three additional music videos: "Especialistas," "Lama," and "Punk da seca." These were Alex Badaró's last recordings at Traste, who was later replaced by Victor Polato. With him, the band released two more EPs: "Entre escambos e escombros" and "Colisão."

The band has toured cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis, Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto, Brasília, and several others throughout the interior of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, having shared the stage with important bands in the Brazilian underground, such as Surra, Test, Black Pantera, Molho Negro, and Sangue de Bode.
