Dr. Angela Stone

Angela Laverne Stone, affectionately known to the world as Angie Stone, was a proud native of Columbia, South Carolina. Her journey of faith, education, and excellence began at W.A. Perry Middle School and continued at C.A. Johnson High School, where she was an outstanding student, athlete, and cheerleader, graduating with the Class of 1980.

She further enriched her academic experience as a participant in the Upward Bound program at Benedict College, an initiative dedicated to preparing young scholars for higher education and personal achievement. Angie’s lifelong commitment to growth and service was later recognized in 2017, when she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Theology from Next Dimension University in Rancho Cucamonga, California, officially becoming Dr. Angela Stone.

Her educational and spiritual foundation shaped a life of purpose, passion, and perseverance. Whether through music, mentorship, or ministry, she inspired generations and left an indelible mark on the world.

Her subsequent music albums are:

• "Mahogany Soul" (2001): Also certified Gold, this album featured the hit "Wish I Didn't Miss You," a track that became a staple in neo-soul music.

• "Stone Love" (2004): Showcasing her versatility, this album included collaborations with artists like Snoop Dogg and Anthony Hamilton.
